Chat with your documents

Chat with your documents in a workspace that keeps them

Search+ is a place to chat with your documents that keeps them, and your conversations, in your own account. You upload your PDFs into workspaces, ask about them in plain language and get answers that cite the excerpts they rely on. Each account's workspaces and documents are kept separate from other accounts, and everything is still there the next time you sign in, so the files you rely on become a resource you return to rather than something you re-upload for every question.

Your files, your questions

The value of chatting with your own documents shows up in questions only your files can answer. Some examples, and what you get back:

"What did we agree with the landlord about repairs?"

An answer drawn from your copy of the lease, with a citation that opens the clause, so you are reading your agreement rather than a generic explanation of leases.

"Remind me what my notes from the March workshop concluded"

If the workshop notes are in the workspace as a PDF, a short recap with citations to the passages. If they are not, the answer says so instead of guessing.

"Across my client briefs, which ones mention a June launch?"

A list of the briefs that mention it, each with its own citation, drawn only from the documents you uploaded.

"Using the house style rules, rewrite this clause summary"

If you have saved house style rules as Workspace Context, the answer follows them without you repeating them, and still cites the clause it summarizes.

"Pick up where we left off on the vendor review"

Not a new answer at all: you reopen the earlier conversation from your history, with its workspace and context intact.

What does chatting with your documents involve?

Chatting with your documents means asking an AI questions whose answers come from files you supplied, not from what the model learned elsewhere. Three things decide whether that works in practice. First, grounding: the answer must be built from your text and show where it came from, which in Search+ means inline citations to the supporting excerpt. Second, ownership: your files sit in your account, scoped so that other accounts cannot read them. Third, continuity: the documents and the conversations stay put, so a question asked next month starts from the same collection. Search+ organizes all three around workspaces, one per project, each holding its PDFs, its conversations and an optional set of standing instructions called Workspace Context. The practical effect is that a question about your documents does not start from zero. The files are already processed, the earlier threads are a click away in your history, and the instructions you wrote once keep shaping each new answer.

Asking a general assistant a question and hoping it knows your situation. Without your documents in the loop, it cannot answer from them.

How to start chatting with your documents

  1. Create your account

Sign up at app.searchplus.ai. No payment details are needed to create the account.

  2. Set up a workspace per project

Give each project its own workspace so answers come from the right files. Rename or archive a workspace when the project changes.

  3. Bring in your PDFs

Drag your files in, up to 10 at a time, and keep working while each one is processed in the background.

  4. Ask, check, come back

Ask in your own words, open citations to read the excerpts, and return to the conversation from your history whenever the project picks up again.

Why your documents stay useful in Search+

Kept in your account

Each account's workspaces and documents are kept separate from other accounts.

Saved between sessions

Workspaces, documents and conversations persist, so you pick up where you left off.

Answers from your text

Inline citations point to the document and excerpt each answer uses.

Your rules, applied every time

Workspace Context stores standing instructions, such as your terminology or what to leave out, and applies them to every question in that workspace.

Find your own work again

Search your workspaces and your past conversations by name.

Organized by project

Create, rename and archive workspaces as projects start and finish.

What to know before you bring your files

It is a hosted service, not local

Your files are uploaded to Search+ to be processed. If documents must never leave your machine, a local tool is the right choice.

No integrations

Search+ does not connect to cloud drives, email or chat tools. Add documents by uploading them to a workspace.

Answers can be wrong

AI answers can be incomplete or inaccurate. Open the cited excerpt before you rely on an important point.

Questions about chatting with your documents

Is there an AI that can chat with my own documents?
Yes. Search+ answers questions from the PDFs you upload and cites the excerpts it uses, so the answers come from your documents rather than from general knowledge.
Can I chat with my documents locally, offline?
No. Search+ is a hosted web app, so your PDFs are uploaded and processed online. If your documents cannot leave your computer, use a local tool instead.
Is Search+ on GitHub?
No. It is a hosted product, not an open-source project you install. You use it in the browser at app.searchplus.ai.
Does it work with Google Drive or other storage?
Not at the moment. There are no integrations with Google Drive or other storage services. Download the files as PDFs and upload them to a workspace.
Can other people see my documents?
Each account's workspaces and documents are kept separate from other accounts.
Can I organize documents for different clients or projects?
Yes. Create a separate workspace for each client or project, give it a clear name, and archive it when the work is done. Questions asked in a workspace are answered from that workspace's documents, so one client's files do not leak into another client's answers.
Do I have to upload my documents again each time?
No. Your workspaces keep their documents and conversations between sessions.
Should I trust the answers?
Treat them as a starting point you can verify. AI answers can be incomplete or inaccurate, and the citations let you read the excerpt before you rely on it.
Which kinds of documents can I chat with?
Upload PDFs, Word documents or Excel spreadsheets, and scanned documents are read with OCR. Keep each project's files together in one workspace, and every answer cites the document and the excerpt it relied on, so you can see which of your files said what.
