Anara alternatives

Anara is an AI workspace for papers and documents, with research connectors, folder collaboration and per-seat plans from free to $200 a month. People look for an alternative when per-upload limits on Free and Plus get in the way, when they need OCR without the Pro plan, or when their documents are not research papers. The closest alternatives are Search+ for any kind of document project, Elicit and SciSpace for literature work, and Humata for small teams.

We make Search+, one of the alternatives below. We compared Anara and each alternative on files, citations, instructions, sharing and price, using each vendor's public pages, checked October 11, 2026.

What is Anara?

Anara is an AI workspace aimed at researchers. It connects to Zotero, Mendeley, PubMed and ClinicalTrials.gov, and on Pro to Google Drive, Notion and OneDrive; folders take collaborators, and Pro adds OCR for scanned documents.

Not the same as a reference manager: Anara connects to Zotero and Mendeley rather than replacing them.
