An AI document assistant that reads, so you can decide

Search+ is an AI document assistant for reading, not writing. You give it the PDFs that matter to a piece of work, and it answers your questions about them: what a document says, where two documents differ, what a set has in common. Each answer cites the passages it used. It does not draft letters, rewrite clauses or edit your files. Think of it as the assistant who has read every page and can point to the line, while you make the decisions and do the writing.

Jobs you can hand to the assistant

These are reading jobs: questions about documents you already have. The assistant answers in prose and cites the passages.

Brief me on this 60-page agreement before my call.

Ask for a summary of the single PDF. The reply walks through the main terms in order, and each point carries a citation you can open if the call turns on it.

Where do these two proposals differ on scope?

With both proposals in the workspace, ask for the differences. The answer describes each difference and cites the passage in each proposal.

Trace this claim in the summary back to the report.

Paste the claim and ask where it comes from. Search+ answers with the passages that support it, each one cited, so you can judge whether the claim holds.

Which themes keep coming up in the interview transcripts?

Upload the transcripts as PDFs and ask for recurring themes. Each theme is listed with citations to the transcripts where it appears.

What is an AI document assistant?

The phrase covers two different kinds of tool. Writing assistants help you create documents: drafting, rewriting, formatting or translating text. Reading assistants help you understand documents you already have: answering questions, summarizing, comparing and locating evidence. Search+ is a reading assistant. It works over PDFs in a workspace, answers questions in plain language, and ties every point to the excerpt it came from, so you can check its reading against the source. Standing instructions in Workspace Context let you tell it once how to approach a project, for example which document takes priority, and it applies that to every question.

Not the same as a writing assistant inside a word processor. Search+ does not edit or produce documents, and it does not draft them for you.

How to work with the assistant

  1. Set up the project

Create a workspace and give it a name that matches the piece of work.

  2. Hand over the reading

Upload the PDFs, up to 10 per batch by drag and drop. Each file shows its status while it is processed in the background.

  3. Give standing instructions

Add Workspace Context with anything the assistant should always keep in mind, such as the terms your team uses or which source is authoritative.

  4. Ask, check, continue

Ask questions about the whole workspace or one document, open citations to check the reading, and come back to the conversation later.

What the assistant can do for you

Summarize a document or a set

Ask for a summary of one PDF or of everything in the workspace, with citations on each point.

Compare documents

Ask how two or more documents differ and get a cited answer that points to each source.

Spot recurring themes

Find themes and repeated claims across a set of documents.

Trace claims to evidence

Check where a claim comes from by asking for the passages that support it, and open each excerpt.

Follow your rules

Workspace Context applies your standing instructions to every question in the workspace.

Pick up where you left off

Conversations and workspaces are saved, so a long piece of reading can span several sessions.

What the assistant does not do

No drafting or editing

Search+ does not write, rewrite or edit documents, and it cannot change the files you upload.

No exports

Answers stay in the conversation. There is no export to Word, PDF or spreadsheet.

No professional advice

It can read legal, financial or medical PDFs, but it does not give legal or other professional advice, and its answers can be incomplete or inaccurate.

Search+ compared with a general chatbot

Many people paste document text into a general-purpose chatbot. A reading assistant built around your documents works differently.

AI document assistant questions

Is there a free AI document assistant?
You can create a Search+ account without entering payment details, upload PDFs and start asking questions. Search+ does not describe this as a free plan.
Is Search+ on GitHub?
No. Search+ is a hosted web app at app.searchplus.ai, not an open source project, so there is no repository to clone or self-host.
Can Search+ act as a legal document assistant?
It can read legal PDFs such as contracts and policies and answer questions about them with citations to the clauses it used. It does not give legal advice, draft legal documents or guarantee accuracy, so a qualified person should review anything that matters.
Can it write or edit my documents?
No. Search+ answers questions about documents and cites its sources. It does not draft new documents, edit existing ones or change the files you upload.
How do I make it follow my team's terminology?
Write the terms into Workspace Context. Those standing instructions apply to every question in that workspace.
Can it handle a long reading list?
Yes, in batches. Upload up to 10 PDFs at a time and keep adding batches to the same workspace. Each file is processed in the background, and how long that takes depends on its size and structure, so you can start asking about the first files while the rest finish.
Does it remember what I asked before?
Each conversation is saved with its workspace. Reopen an earlier conversation from your history, or search your conversations by name, and carry on from where you stopped instead of explaining the project again.
How do I know it read the document correctly?
Open the citations. Each point in an answer links to the excerpt it relied on, with a page or section reference when the PDF provides one, so you can compare the answer with the source.
Which document formats can the assistant read?
It reads PDF, Word and Excel files, and OCR handles scanned documents. Upload them into a workspace and ask what they say. The assistant answers with citations to the excerpts it used; it still does not edit those files or draft new ones.
