AI file search for what is inside your PDFs

Search+ is an AI file search tool for the inside of your PDF files. It does not scan your computer or find files by name on your disk. You upload the PDFs you care about into a workspace, Search+ reads their text, and then you ask questions about what those files contain. The answer tells you which file says what, with a citation to the exact excerpt. It suits the moment when you have the files already and the problem is finding the passage, not the file.

Runs in your browser; nothing to install.

File searches people run in Search+

These questions assume the files are already uploaded to a workspace. Each answer names the files it drew on and cites the passages.

Which of my files covers the warranty terms?

Search+ names the PDFs that discuss the warranty, summarizes what each says, and cites the passage in each file so you can open the right one.

I saved a vendor proposal last month; what did it say about support hours?

Ask the question in the project workspace and the answer cites the passage on support hours from the proposal, with a page reference when the PDF carries one.

Do any of these files disagree on the delivery date?

The answer sets out the dates each file gives and cites each one, which makes a mismatch visible without opening every document.

Look only in the latest version of the spec.

Narrow the scope to that single PDF and the answer ignores the older copies sitting in the same workspace.

What is AI file search?

AI file search usually means one of two things. The first is a desktop or drive tool that finds files by name, type or content across a computer or cloud storage. The second is searching the contents of a chosen set of files by asking questions about them, where an AI reads the files and answers from them. Search+ is the second kind. You decide which PDFs belong to a project, upload them to a workspace, and every question you ask is answered from those files only. Because answers cite the passage they came from, the search result also tells you which file to open and where to look in it.

Not the same as Windows Search, Mac Spotlight or a cloud drive search. Search+ does not index your computer, your drive or your email; it only reads PDFs you upload.

How to search inside files with Search+

  1. Make a workspace per project

Keep related files together. A workspace for each project keeps searches focused, and you can search your list of workspaces by name to find the right one.

  2. Upload the PDFs

Drag files onto the upload area, up to 10 per batch. Uploads keep going in the background while you work, and each file shows whether it is queued, processing, indexed or failed.

  3. Ask what the files say

Once files show as indexed, ask your question. Search the whole workspace, or pick one file when you only care about it.

  4. Go to the source

Open a citation to read the excerpt behind a statement and see which file it came from.

What Search+ does for file search

Searches content, not file names

Ask about what is written inside the PDFs and get an answer drawn from their text.

Tells you which file said it

Citations point to the source document and the supporting excerpt, so the answer doubles as a pointer to the right file.

Batch uploads with status

Drop up to 10 PDFs at once. Each file shows its processing status, and processing continues in the background.

Whole set or single file

Ask across every file in the workspace, or narrow the question to one.

Organized by project

Create, rename and archive workspaces, and search your workspaces and past conversations by name.

Everything saved

Files, workspaces and conversations stay in your account between sessions.

What Search+ file search does not do

Does not search your computer

Search+ cannot see files on your disk, on Windows or Mac, or in a cloud drive. It only searches PDFs you upload to a workspace.

No keyword search box

You search by asking a question. There is no full-text box that lists every file containing a word.

No connections to other storage

There are no integrations with drives, email or chat tools. Files arrive by upload only.

Search+ compared with desktop file search

Desktop search and Search+ answer different questions. Use each for its job.

AI file search questions

Is Search+ an AI file search tool?
Yes, for the contents of PDF files you upload. It answers questions about what the files say and cites the passages. It does not find files on your computer by name.
Does Search+ work as a file search engine for Windows?
No. Search+ runs in a web browser and only reads PDFs you upload to it. It does not index Windows folders or replace Windows Search.
Can Search+ search files on my Mac?
Not directly. It cannot see files on a Mac or any other computer. Upload the PDFs you want searched to a workspace in the browser, and Search+ answers questions about those files.
Is it an AI search engine for files in general?
It is narrower. Search+ searches inside a set of PDFs you chose, one workspace at a time, and returns a written answer with citations rather than a list of matching files.
How many files can I upload at once?
Up to 10 PDFs per upload batch. You can add more batches to the same workspace, and each file shows its status while it is processed.
Will Search+ show me every file that contains a word?
Not as a list. There is no full-text search box. Ask a question about the topic instead, and the answer cites the files and passages that discuss it.
Do I need to pay to start?
No payment details are needed to create an account and upload your first PDFs.
What if one of my files fails to process?
Its status shows as failed in the upload list, and the rest of the batch carries on. Check the file and upload it again.
How do I keep files for different projects apart?
Give each project its own workspace. Questions asked in a workspace only draw on the files in that workspace, so a search for one client never pulls in another client's documents. Rename or archive a workspace when the project changes.
Which file types can I search inside?
PDF, Word and Excel files can be uploaded, and scanned documents are read with OCR. Remember the boundary: Search+ searches the content of files you upload to a workspace, not the folders on your computer, so add the files you want to search first.
